A Period of Juvenile Prosperity - Boxset
60 four-color plates
Edition of 20 + 5 AP
11.5 x 13.5 in.
This table top sculpture is as much art object as it is box set. The custom made set is a 30 lb. steel, glass and fabric object that reflects the rusty and jagged detritus that repeatedly appears in Brodie's images.
The print is mounted on 1/8" cold rolled steel. Signed and numbered on verso, it is a 11 x 13 in. C- Type print on Kodak F-Surface paper. It nests perfectly in a carefully and deliberately rusted steel frame with intentionally chunky welds. On top of the print sits a signed first edition book wrapped in a screen printed dust jacket on 75 lb. butcher paper.
The colophon, printed directly on a piece of American flag that no longer flies, sits beneath the finishing touch, a 1/4" piece of tempered glass that has been mirrored and etched individually. A reverse sandblasting process was first applied to the glass that allows the title to exist as negative space, allowing the red stripe of the American flag below it to glow through as testament of Brodie's contribution to photography.
